I Dream of Greenie
Anyone in the mood for a mezcal martini? What if it’s herbaceous, a little funky, and just the right amount of savory? I assume you’ve already scrolled past if your answer is no, so keep reading. I was sent a lovely bottle of mezcal by @mezcalamaras, which isn’t as assertive (ie smoky) as some others— which allows it to be the feature spirit in this stirred format without completely overtaking the more subtle flavors.
A bit of Midori adds that melon funk and pairs beautifully with the chartreuse. Add a bit of vermouth to lengthen the flavors and a hint of celery bitters for savoriness (a little goes a long way), and you’re there! The garnish is a bitter melon, which is 100% just for looks. There is melon and bitters in the drink so it sort of works?
Recipe
1.75oz mezcal (@mezcalamaras_us, gifted)
0.5oz dry vermouth (@vermouthdolin)
0.25oz melon liqueur (@mr.midori_)
0.25oz Green Chartreuse (@chartreuse1605)
2 drops celery bitters (@scrappysbitters, gifted)
Pinch of salt
Stir, strain, express lime oils and discard. Cheers!!
