Jaiquiri

Two words: jackfruit daiquiri. Combining words is a big part of my pun repertoire, probably my wife’s favorite type (jk it’s definitely not). But this drink is more than just a clever word play, it’s a fabulous daiquiri that celebrates jackfruit— which is a delicious fruit with a healthy dose of tropical/banana and an almost floral-like quality. It’s also versatile and can be used as a meat substitute!

The goal behind the build was simple: find flavors to accentuate the main attraction. I added a bit of rhum for some freshness and funk, and split the sweetness among banana, coconut, and falernum. This trio accented many of the jackfruit flavors with none of them being too loud as to overpower or get in the way. If you can get your hands on some jackfruit, this one comes highly recommended.

Recipe

////Shake, fine strain into chilled coupe. No garnish here, but I recommend serving with dried jackfruit if you can find it. Cheers!!

*Chop up a few pieces of jackfruit and infuse at room temp for 2-3 days. Strain, pass through coffee filter, bottle.
