So Kozy
The aquavit kick continues, courtesy of my friends at @nordenaquavit. This drink uses a special bottle of aquavit aged in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in a bourbon barrel aged stout barrel. I enjoy sipping this one as much as most whiskeys, so the goal of a cocktail is to stay out of the way and help the bright spots shine.

A five-spice syrup brought out the delicate anise notes while the cinnamon, peppercorn, and cloves joined with the Ango bitters to add some nice warmth and spice. Chocolate pairs beautifully with aquavit, especially here with the bourbon and stout presence— so a few drops of a cocoa nib tincture really took this to the next level [2:1 high proof grain alcohol to lightly muddled cocoa nibs, sous vide at 165F for 1hr]. You should definitely grab a bottle of the Kuriosa Kollektion and kozy up on the kouch with this drink.
Recipe
2oz aged aquavit (@nordenaquavit, gifted)
0.25oz 5-spice simple syrup (see post 2/9/24)
1 dash Angostura bitters (@angosturahouse)
8 drops cocoa nib tincture
Stir, strain over large #clearice (gifted from @iceblox_ri). Garnish with an orange twist and serve with bittersweet chocolate. Cheers!!
