Vida Americana

Blanco tequila can be so much more than a shot or a margarita. It took me some time to realize that, and don’t get me wrong— I love a good margarita and especially its infinite riffability. But if you like margaritas and/or tequila in general, keep reading.

This drink is a tequila-based martini. It brings the blanco (a nicer one if you have it; I used Dulce Vida which is a lovely organic tequila I enjoy sipping too) with a bit of rhum for the base; yellow chartreuse for some sweetness and herbaceous, and chocchi to round it out and add a little bitterness. The bitters pull out some citrus notes and a hint of savory-ness (trust me, 1 drop makes a difference). It’s herbal, boozy, with hints of funk and grass and citrus, and interesting enough to keep you coming back for another sip. If you are looking to expand your view on tequila (or martinis, for that matter), you should give this one a go!
