What A Teas

Today I’m continuing my #sponsored content with @JaisalmerGin, this time with a new cocktail recipe. One of the more unique features of this gin (and one of my favorites) is the inclusion of Darjeeling green tea as one of the botanicals. Tea lends itself really well to spirits, given their depth of flavor and (as an avid lover of amaro) bitter element. As such, they’re great for infusing, and you can dial in the level of bitterness depending on how long you let the infusion go.

Today I have a mar-tea-ni using an amazing honeysuckle-fig oolong blend made locally by @trueleaftea. I’m pretty convinced most teas would work in this drink, but I felt that the sweet floral and rich fruity notes of this tea would pair wonderfully with the gin. I went for a longer infusion (~48 hours) to give a bit more bitterness. To round out the drink, I used Italicus for its bergamot notes (famously starred in Earl Grey tea), adding both sweetness and brightening up the drink. Yes, that gives us elements of green, black, and oolong tea! With some fresh lemon oils, this drink is complex, incredibly flavorful, yet surprisingly refreshing for such a boozy affair.

Recipe

Stir with ice until chilled, strain into chilled coupe, express and include lemon peel. Cheers!!
