Seasonal Envy
Oh September… that pesky time of the year in Texas where my mind wants it to be Fall but it’s still hot and not quite Fall. Here’s one that keeps me eagerly waiting those cooler temps.
Shenanigans aside, this drink is yummy. It’s even wife-approved, which is saying something since she doesn’t really like whiskey or amari. An old fashioned template with a lot of subtle flavors that come together beautifully. There is perceptible spiced pear but it’s restrained, allowing the richness if the coconut to sneak in all while letting the whiskey be the star. The garnish really adds here, cueing the brain to think “Fall is coming”. I’ll be making this one again soon, maybe even batching…
Recipe
1.75oz whiskey (@clydemayswhiskey, kindly gifted)
>0.25oz coconut liqueur
0.25oz Braulio (@braulio.italia)
1tsp pear brandy
2 dashes ango (@angosturahouse)
Stir, strain into chilled glass (@thewinesavant). Express and discard orange peel. Garnish with dehydrated pear and fresh sage. Cheers!!
