Hard to believe it, but we’re now up to Drink #8 of 10 in the @catanpisco and @settlersofcatan collaboration. Today’s drink is distinctly tropical and inspired by the Desert Hex in the board game. I envisioned something absolutely refreshing and thirst-quenching, which wasn’t hard to imagine given the current weather/heat.
The classic pineapple/coconut combo is primary here, with a hint of grassy funk from the cachaça and warm spices from the falernum. This all ties in wonderfully to the pisco, drawing out some of its floral notes, while not overtaking the drink and letting the tropical flavors shine. It’s really a tasty and refreshing sip, whether you’re coming in from an actual desert or just live anywhere in the southern half of this country.
Recipe
1.5oz Catan Pisco
0.5oz silver cachaça (I used @avuacachaca)
0.75oz coconut liqueur
0.25oz velvet falernum (@thebittertruthcompany, gifted)
0.75oz pineapple juice
0.75oz lime juice
Shake all ingredients with ice until chilled. Strain into glass with fresh ice (I used @iceblox_ri, gifted). Garnish with fresh mint and (totally optional) pineapple fronds. Cheers!!
