Board Flipper
[#ad] Today’s next sponsored drink for the @catanpisco and @settlersofcatan collaboration goes out to all the really competitive types. You know, the one that can’t stand to lose, who may even resort to showing their displeasure physically, flipping the game board and all its contents. I admit, I’m really competitive with games, though I can’t claim I’ve ever gone full flip.
PiscOasis
[#ad]
Hard to believe it, but we’re now up to Drink #8 of 10 in the @catanpisco and @settlersofcatan collaboration. Today’s drink is distinctly tropical and inspired by the Desert Hex in the board game. I envisioned something absolutely refreshing and thirst-quenching, which wasn’t hard to imagine given the current weather/heat.
Welcome to Port Pisco
[#ad] For our next #sponsored post showcasing the @catanpisco and @settlersofcatan collaboration, I have a stirred, almost martini-style drink. This one is inspired by the Port spaces in the board game where you can trade in resources— in particular the space where everything can be traded at a 3:1 ratio. You might even call this a firesale, where everything goes.
Sweet Road Home
[#ad] Welcome back for our next @catanpisco and @settlersofcatan #sponsored drink! For number 6 in the series, we’re doing a long drink, inspired by the “Longest Road” card in the Settlers game. This is a riff on a French ‘75, which works great because the grape-based pisco and sparkling wine are natural partners. This riff is meant to highlight the wonderful floral notes in Catan pisco by bringing in elderflower and lavender. Top everything with a nice dry sparkling wine (I used a rosé brut), and the result is a delicious, refreshing, floral-leaning cocktail perfect for brunch or evening alike!
Walk In The Woods
[#ad] We are officially halfway through the @catanpisco and @settlersofcatan series today! This drink brings you pisco in an Old Fashioned format. This is a style you don’t often see with pisco, so definitely give this a try because it’s delicious! The inspiration is the Wood resource card, combined with the fact that the late founder of Settlers, Klaus Teuber, was known to enjoy exploring the outdoors.
Heated Negotiations
I’m back for the fourth chapter of the @catanpisco and @settlersofcatan collaboration! If you’ve ever played the game, this is probably a familiar scene: you want to build a City, but your opponent is refusing to give you the resources you need (at a fair price, that is). Things get tense, even a little spicy. This drink is just the diplomatic juice the situation needs.
Year Of Plenty
Drink number 3 of the @catanpisco and @settlersofcatan collaboration is a riff on the classic pisco sour (pisco, citrus, sugar, egg white). The inspiration was the Development Card named “Year of Plenty”, which made me think of Thanksgiving. To make a pisco sour fit for the holiday, I brought in cranberry, orange, and cardamom— a tried and true flavor combination.
Grapes & Grain
Today I have drink #2 in my Catan & Catan series, highlighting an amazing Chilean pisco (@catanpisco) and the classic board game, Settlers of Catan (@settlersofcatan).
Ten Points To Victory
Today’s drink includes some scenery that some of you may recognize— yes, those are Victory Point cards from the modern classic Settlers of Catan (@settlersofcatan). I’m a huge board game nerd (shocking, I know) and love the Settlers series, so I was incredibly excited to create a themed drink using a delicious pisco that goes by the same name. @Catanpisco is Chilean, single grape, double distilled, and is delicious, clean, floral, delicate yet complex, and as good neat as is cocktails. I appreciate them sharing a bottle with me and I’m excited to make some more themed drinks down the road to celebrate the Catan & Catan collaboration!
Don’t Ass-ume
I love plum wine (umeshu). I always assumed it was made with, well, plums… but it’s actually made ume, which is actually a relative of (but not identical to) the plum most of us are familiar with. The things I learn while posting, amiright? I recently got my hands on an umeshu made with kokuto sugar.
