Prolific
This drink is dedicated to my lemon balm plant, which is currently growing like crazy. I don’t know what to do with it. It smells kind of like fruit loops in the best possible way and I’m sure I will come up with something (ideas below please!)… In the meantime, here’s a really delicious drink using it as a garnish.
Nothing too weird today (I think there’s been enough complexity this week), just a gin sour—obviously a staple in our house, especially around springtime. I’ve been recently playing around with Italicus, a delicious bergamot-based liqueur. It’s floral/citrus and slight bitter notes pair beautifully with Aperol. Last, I added a bit of turmeric syrup that counters these flavors just right with a bit of earth and spice.
Recipe
1.75oz London dry gin (@tanqueraygin)
0.5oz Aperol (@aperolusa)
0.5oz Italicus (@italicusrdb)
>0.25oz spicy turmeric syrup (@barefootbotanicals, gifted)
0.75oz lemon juice
(Soda water)
Combine all ingredients (minus soda) and shake with ice until chilled. Fine strain over a clear ice spear and top with soda water if desired. Garnish with lemon peel and lemon balm. Cheers!!
